Akira Hanson is a visual artist, poet and facilitator. She lives on unceded syilx territory of the Okanagan First Nation.  Akira creates through the arts to gain clarity.  Her art explores human relationships between self and the universe.  The topics reflect the cyclical and spiral energy within all life forms.

The works she has chosen to exhibit this month as featured member are a series of machine felted artwork depicts layers of evolution.  The circle portrays wholeness of never ending change.  Each piece transforms organically and intuitively as it takes on a life of its own.

Using commericially woven wool fabric as a substrate, Akira attaches a variety of materials to express her vision including such items as carded and felted wool fibres, raw silk, embroidery threads of silk, rayon and cotton and beads.
