Judy Sims

A long time resident of the Shuswap, I have been a practicing artist from the Crayola 64 days! (aka, when crayons ceased to be snacks). Curious about a variety of mediums, I enjoy working with a variety of materials, most often determined by the story I am attempting to share. I consider visual art a form of language and the work I offer as a thread in a story line. I have learned through reading, observation, conversation and an inspiring offering of formal workshops! There is a spirit of generousity I have encountered in the art community, my style of learning and wandering a creative path, is flexible.
I am influenced by the beauty of the woods and beings we share space with at our home in Canoe where I live with my husband, daughter (sometimes, far too briefly joined by our far and away girl), and a cast of cat characters. I have shown work in the Salmon Arm arts Center, as well galleries in Kelowna, Penticton, Lake Country, Granville Island, Vernon and Kamloops. I am entering my third year with the Courtyard Gallery.
