To Measure Perimeter:
Take a measuring tape and measure all four sides of the artwork – including the frame. Add them all up. That’s the perimeter. If you have an 8″x10″ canvas, you’ll measure 8″+10″+8″+10″ for a total of 36″.
To Measure Area (or square inches):
Measure the width of the canvas and the height of the canvas. Multiply the two measurements together. That’ll give you the area of the artwork in square inches. If you have an 8″x10″ canvas, multiply 8″ by 10″ to get 80sq in.
