There is a moment when you walk into a space, when it speaks to your sense of self. It could be the colours, the light, the music, the shape; it could be the people inhabiting it. It could be as simple as your own state of mind in the split-second you made the decision to wander through the doors.
Who Do You Want To Be?
Everyone has a story. Here at Gallery Vertigo, we are all about telling those stories. Every person who walks through our doors has an individual experience in this world to share, both with their artistic endeavours and with the way they present those works of art to the world. Finding that voice as an emerging artist, or an artist outside of the traditional lines in which artists have coloured, or perhaps as a younger or more senior artist, well – that might be a more interesting challenge than you have faced thus far. We would love to face it with you!
What are the things you want to say? How do you want the world to see you, through the medium of your art? When you think of exhibiting your work, how does it make you feel? Technically, what are your requirements to make you feel like your work is best represented by a venue? At Gallery Vertigo, we look at the broader view when working with our emerging artists. Established artists can be confident with our 24 years of history and experience, and we have a broad range of volunteers to assist – we’d love for you to join them.
How Do I Get Involved?
There’s multiple ways you can get on board with Gallery Vertigo, as an artist or a volunteer or as an art lover. First step is a membership, which is only $35 a year, gets you access to our monthly newsletter, inclusion in two Member’s shows per year, access to a full month long solo show on our Featured Member’s Wall every two years, discounts on window displays, and more member benefits! Applications for membership can be filled out right here at galleryvertigo.com/membership/ and your membership is active from the day we process your application. We have opportunities for everyone who would like to get involved in the cultural landscape of the Okanagan, ranging from serving on our Board of Directors to helping mount exhibitions, teaching workshops, volunteering in our gallery, or helping with creative fundraising activities. We have ways to get you out of the house and into a vibrant social and artistic community!
