Please join us for a sneak peak of the future Gallery Vertigo location! We are having our annual fundraiser “Almost Famous” there on February 26th. There will be a live auction, silent auction, and live music. $20/ ticket (on sale at Bean Scene).
Musical acts will include:
— Lune & Tide
Sweeping, edgy instrumental guitar and violin performed by Adrien Lapierre & Meagan May.
— The J Solemn Band
The unreal Cherryville-based songwriter J. Solemn (Jim Lagerquist), backed by an all star Okanagan band featuring Liam McIvor on bass, Daniel Green on drums, and Shane Ranger on leads. For fans of 60s/70s folk and modern outlaw blues a la Neil Young, Nick Drake, Father John Misty.
— Jayme McKillop
Being raised in the Okanagan in all its abundance has shaped Jayme McKillop to be a singer whose own songs of human connection and social critique make for a soulful and emotive experience. With far too many influences to count, seeing music made in her hometown community is what really sparks Jayme’s passion and keeps her on the magical, musical mystery tour of life.
— Lowell Friesen
Post-Archaic, Knew-Folk, Ally-Friendly, Settler-Singer, Git-Fiddle Picker, Banjo-Mangler, Heart-Song-Poet-Peddler. Lowell Friesen combines a tender hearted sensitivity, an edgy simmering angst and a dash of tongue in cheek humour to his brand of modern/folk, alt/country music. From the early 90’s in East Vancouver and a short stint at Emily Carr School of Art, to the contemplative quiet life on the family farm in the Okanagan to the years in the Kootenays discovering bass culture and a love of the written word, Lowell’s passion for self-knowledge and expression churned, always just beneath the surface.
— Ginger & Rose
A special treat, Lowell & Jayme will share some of their lovingly prepared musical fare with us. Ginger & Rose contrast and compliment each other like any great pairing, bringing their diverse styles into the kitchen and cooking up a unique and soulful musical banquet.
